You’ll quickly discover how easy it is to make this bacon-wrapped asparagus recipe. If you have never tried it, it’s as simple as oiling and seasoning the spears, bundling and wrapping them in bacon, and then grilling them! You can make them in the oven too!
Laying the spears flat on a cutting board, cut (or snap [1]) the ends of the asparagus spears into 4 to 5-inch long tips. Drizzle the spears with Grapeseed Oil, and season with Steak Rub, gently rolling to cover and spice up the asparagus on all sides. Divide the total number of spears into bundles containing 4-5 spears each.
Once divided, wrap each bundle of spears with a half slice of bacon, gently tucking each end of the bacon between the spears to secure. Toothpicks are also an option for holding the ends of the bacon. If using toothpicks, soak them in cold water for 15 minutes before using them and remove them before serving.
Grill the bacon-wrapped asparagus. Place the bundles directly on the grill grates, cooking for 4-5 minutes per side or until the asparagus is tender and the bacon is crispy and slightly charred to how you like it. [2] Serve immediately!
KITCHEN NOTES
[1] Removing the ends by snapping will ensure that you don’t have any woody pieces in your bundles. To do it, bend the cut end of the spear until it naturally snaps! If you prefer to trim with a knife, trim at least 1-1/2 inches up the spear, leaving 4-5 inch long tips.[2] What To Do If You Don’t Have A Grill If you don’t have a grill, another way to cook bacon-wrapped asparagus is to pop the wrapped spears in the oven. Prepare as directed, and instead of cooking on a grill, place the spears on a foil-lined baking sheet; bake at 400° for 15-20 minutes, turning as needed, until the asparagus is tender and the bacon is crisp.
