Grilled Salmon with Bacon & Honey-Bourbon BBQ Glaze

Get set to sweeten up any night of the week
with this easy grilling salmon recipe!

Glazed salmon on the grill doesn’t get much better than when you add bacon and BBQ sauce to boot! Glazed with a combination of honey, gluten-free BBQ sauce, and bourbon whiskey this easy, no-fuss main course will fool just about anyone into thinking that you were cooking all day.
Grilling the salmon for a quick 15 minutes adds just the right amount of smoky flavor to flavor the salmon, while strips of bacon on top to keep it moist, gives it added flavor and makes it super moist.
In this recipe we remove the skin before cooking and place it in a foil pan for grilling, this helps to keep it flaky and moist, and you don’t need to worry about it sticking to the grill.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Salmon Fillet center cut, skin removed and divided into four equal pieces
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Bourbon Whiskey
  • 1/4 Cup BBQ Sauce gluten-free, plus extra for grilling
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 4 Strips Bacon
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to 325ºF according to manufacturer instructions, including apple or cherry wood for smoking.
  2. While the grill is heating, combine the honey and whiskey in a microwave-safe bowl, whisk together, and microwave on medium heat for one minute.
  3. Whisk in the BBQ sauce. Coat the salmon on each side using about half of the combined honey, whiskey and BBQ sauce mixture set aside.

  4. Drizzle the olive oil in the bottom of a short-sided aluminum foil pan or pie plate. Add a thin layer of the BBQ sauce for the salmon to rest on top.

  5. Arrange the coated salmon in the prepared pan and drizzle the remaining honey, whiskey and BBQ sauce mixture on top. Add the bacon strips over the top and season with the pepper.

  6. When the grill is up to temperature, add the prepared pan with the salmon to the grill and cook uncovered for approximately 15 minutes.

A TIDBIT OR TWO ABOUT KYMBERLEY:

  • The activities I to do most are cooking, being creative with food, gardening, quilting, sewing, and writing!
  • In my life, I have traveled to 31 of the states in the USA where I’ve enjoyed the food, history, people and the local culture while visiting. Among the places, I’ve lived in Arizona, California, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
  • As a little girl I grew up living next door to my grandma and grandpa on a small lake in rural southern Michigan.
  • The first thing I learned to make was pancakes.
  • The craziest thing I ever made was mint-flavored green cupcakes when I was 13. My family didn’t like them 🙄  Learn more →
